From birth to harvest all melons are carefully nurtured in the warm glass greenhouses. I had a chance to talk with one of the dedicated staff and he kindly explained the delicate process of growing high quality melons.

Today, paying visit to “Crown Melon”`s headquarter in Fukuroi city in Shizuoka Prefecture, I was amazed by the professional approach of all dedicated workers to melon cultivation. Being their guest, I was able to enjoy friendly conversation and taste the masterpiece product.
I don`t think many people know that the farmers trim the vines of the plant, so that only three melons grow on each tree. And when the baby melons have grown to the size of a human fist, two are chopped off to allow the most promising one to take all the nourishment from the vine.
